Rahul Gandhi insulted OBCs while targeting PM Modi: Smriti Irani

Federal Minister Smriti Irani launched a venomous attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, alleging that he insulted the whole OBC community while attempting to discredit Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Irani at a press conference in the national capital said, " In an attempt to insult PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi insulted the entire OBC community. However, this is not the first time when the Gandhi family tried to insult people from the Dalit or backward communities."

The Union Minister added that when Draupadi Murmu assumed the presidency of the nation, a Congressman insulted her on the Gandhi family's orders. Irani charged Gandhi with lying in London, at the Parliament, and elsewhere.

"Rahul Gandhi's political illness is clearly visible. Rahul Gandhi’s target is PM Modi and PM Modi’s target is the development of the country,” she added. Irani stepped up her criticism, claiming that the Gandhi family made valiant attempts to damage Prime Minister Modi's reputation while they were in power but failed terribly.

She continued, "Later, Rahul Gandhi told a magazine that he will keep undermining PM Modi's reputation until he destroys it. The Union Minister added that everyone in the nation is aware of Gandhi's conviction by a court for mistreating the OBC community.

Last week, Gandhi was disqualified from the Parliament after his conviction in a defamation case by Gujarat’s Surat district court. The Congress leader was sentenced to two years in prison by the court. Gandhi was subsequently granted bail and given 30 days to take the ruling to a higher court on appeal.
